Rare promotional model by Aurora Plastics for the 1958 United Artists movie The Vikings; an adventure film directed by Richard Fleischer based on the novel The Viking by Edison Marshall.
The film was produced by and starred Kirk Douglas. Other stars include Tony Curtis, Janet Leigh and Ernest Borgnine.
This model was factory built and painted, then placed inside the display box along with printed pieces of paper noting the film and the Aurora logo.
Note the sail on the ship was printed with the movie title logo also. As you can see from the pictures, this example is in excellent condition. The display box measures 12-3/4" wide by 9" tall by 6" deep.
These factory promotional displays are extremely difficult to find.
