The following is from Roland's email answering my questions about how to create the diorama base the Hausser Elastolin way. In the past Roland could not tell me because Erich Leistner, MASTER DIORAMENBAUER, who had taught him had made Roland promise not to tell anyone the secrets.

Erich past away near the end of last year, 2011.

In the email Roland wrote,
"Now at the new year I do a call up to cloud seven, where Erich is ,and he told me to give you the mystery about the groundsculping.: Take birdsand , or large tealeaves (must shredded them) or chainwooddust its best to work. Mix this up with woodclay best you can get for it PONAL,after that mix it with the colour that you will do the ground, and after drying, for example one day, add the other colours on it.

Very easy a real old way ,was used from the Elder one of Hausser Elastolin."

• Take chainsaw wooddust or birdsand or large tea leaves (must be shredded)
• Mix this up with PONAL wood glue
• Mix it with the colour that you will do the ground
• After drying for example one day, add the other colours on it.
